Well Control Library Version 1.7 License

Programming License agreement for Leo Goodstadt Well Control Library

Version 1.7

This is a legal agreement between you (either as an individual or as a single entity) and Leo Goodstadt for the Leo Goodstadt Well Control Library ("LGWCL") which includes computer software and electronic documentation. By installing, copying, reverse engineering or otherwise using this software, you agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement. If you do not agree to the terms of this agreement, do not install or use the software. You will be entitled to a full refund.

The LGWCL is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. The LGWCL is licensed, not sold.

You are hereby granted the following rights :

  1. Leo Goodstadt grants to you as an individual or to your entity, a single, nonexclusive license to make use of copies of LGWCL for the sole purposes of designing, developing and testing your software product(s) provided that you comply with section (4).
  2. You may make an unlimited number of copies of LGWCL provided that such copies shall be used for internal purposes and not republished or redistributed to any third parties.
  3. Licenses must be obtained for each user of LGWCL. If you have multiple licenses for LGWCL, then at any time as many programmers may make use of LGWCL as you have licenses.
  4. If you redistribute LGWCL, you agree to (a) distribute LGWCL in object code and only in conjunction with and as part of a software application developed by you that adds significant and primary functionality to LGWCL, (b) indemnify, hold harmless and defend Leo Goodstadt from and against any claims or lawsuits, including legal fees, that arise from the use or distribution of your software application products.
  5. You are granted the rights to modify and redistribute in object code the sample project that is listed under the subdirectory demo located in LGWCL.
  6. You may permanently transfer all your rights under this license agreement, provided that you retain no copies in source or object code, that you transfer all of LGWCL including all component parts and documentation, and the recipient agrees to the terms of this license agreement. You may not rent or lease LGWCL to any third party.
  7. Leo Goodstadt owns all title and copyrights in and to LGWCL and any copies of the LGWCL. LGWCL is protected by copyright laws and international treaty provisions. Therefore, you must treat LGWCL like any other copyrighted material.

LGWCL is intended to be sold to programmers for the purpose of producing software products. Programmers using LGWCL are as liable to software theft and abuse as the author. It would therefore be extremely foolish and bad practice, to say the least, to expect any respect for the legal property rights of your software products if you proceed initially by abusing the copyright of Leo Goodstadt. Do not unto others as you have nightmares about others doing unto you on a stormy night in a dark alley with the wind blowing and dustbin lids rattling. The ripper off will be ripped off. Beware of the Software Avenger!
Gosh you actually read all of this. Congratulations. Now go away and be a good girl or boy. Write brilliant and fun code. Be rich.
